Framework: This High-Performance Laptop is Fully Repairable & Upgradeable

Framework Laptop DIY

When big tech companies are going deeper into preventing users from repairing their electronic devices, a new startup named Framework is introducing a fully repairable laptop. With this noble design philosophy in mind, Framework allows you to replace just the broken part, not the entire laptop. On top of that, if you need a larger SSD, just swap the old with a new, larger one.

Alternatively, Framework offers Expansion Cards — a modular adapter that is easily swappable. You can choose from USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort, MicroSD, storage, and more. Of course, to make it look appealing, these modules fit perfectly with the thin laptop, weighing in a total of just around 1.3 kilograms (2.86 lbs).

The Framework DIY Edition comes in pieces, letting you literally assemble them together with detailed instructions from the company. Or you could just order the pre-assembled one to get it ready to use out of the box.
